ProBEC Tanzania NAG Members visit Malawi
From 24th -27th January, the ProBEC Tanzania NAG members will be visiting ProBEC Malawi to learn and share experiences with ProBEC Malawi, based on their success in disseminating stoves in the country. The visit will include two NAG members Hon. Devotha Likokola (MP), Mr Omar Saleh Mohamed, Ministry of Energy and Minerals' Mr Mkoma Masanyiwa and the ProBEC M&E Officer Mr Evodius Rutta. During the visit, NAG members will visit stove producers, clay stove producing groups and users to learn Malawi's field experience in implementing various activities.
Other NAG members' visits were done in December last year where NAG members visited ProBEC project sites in Tabora region and Songea district to assess the progress of project activities. NAG members site visits to Malawi, Tabora and Songea were agreed in the 9th NAG meeting.
2010 planning meeting undertaken with stakeholders
On 25th & 26th January ProBEC Tanzania held a two-day planning meeting with major stakeholders and partners to discuss ProBEC 2010 work plans that will reflect the inputs from partners and stakeholders. The plan will then be shared with ProBEC regional office.
Stoves presented to Dar-es-Salaam city mayor
On 14th January 2010 ProBEC staff, along with a new partner BEDOCO Ltd held a short meeting with Dar-es-Salaam city Mayor Hon. Adam Kimbisa, to identify ways to commercialize and scale up production of biomass briquettes that are produced from solid waste. ProBEC is collaborating with BEDOCO in promoting and disseminating institutional rocket stoves that use biomass briquettes in the city and elsewhere in the country.
